I'd also like to add for Horizon, specifically, they could use procedural textures for 99% of the robots and facilities and it would run leaner and look better,even on PS4/5 - get a good metal shader, a couple good flow shaders, and your base could be a single 7f7f7f pixel and the robot would look every bit as good. Likely don't even need displacement or other fancy layers - but instead they're sending 4k by 4k textures with dozens of mip maps that are spectacularly large given the percentage of pixels that ever factor into the actual display, even at 4k.
One thing there is NVidia, specifically, replaces shaders with less detailed ones, simplifies textures, etc. - this is what game ready means - and then on top of that, is going to use AI to synthesize lower quality frames to keep up rates. But I think the big issue is that they've been covering hard for optimization in the drivers - which means if I am a large company, rather than pay a programmer to optimize a shader, I can just use unoptimized garbage, and NVidia will find it and fix it
And tools like Unreal Engine and Unity often don't help - you go into the asset store and pull down a random texture, and it likely is not optimized. You feed them a PNG, and they likely don't optimize even that without third party add ones.
Another thing driving this is in engine cut scenes. Civ 7, as an example, has a massive, multiple minute video that everyone is going to skip after the first time. I've not checked files on it, but Civ 5 and 6 put OVER 20 COPIES of the video file, versus just using separate audio tracks for each supported language. And installs all of those files all of the time, with them also not using a particularly good codec.
If you're releasing in multiple languages, package them as free DLC, if you're not packaging different regional packages. This lets people not install gigs of audio they're never going to hear.
this is a controversial opinion and I’m not a gamer but I don’t need my graphics to be that good. I don’t need to see every individual feather on a bird. my poor computer doesn’t deserve to carry that weight either.

Most of my gripes with this drawing are to do with Cupid not looking right (mainly her outfit), but it is only my second time drawing both of them and i did struggle while sketching Cupid. Honestly i just got tired of this one and i wanted to get it over with lol.
I think that a duet to motive by Ariana Grande and Doja Cat could work for them, like something in a similar style as Wasabi extreme. Probably would never happen but i think it would be cool. Not sure if anyone ships them but i can see them working as enemies to lovers.
Also i have only played One last time extreme twice because that map scares me, like what is she doing half the time (At least i have megastar on it)

Not my circus, not my monkeys, darling, and you know it. I don't know, nor care about what exactly happened, who dunnit and why. It still doesn't change anything to the fact McGill has been MIA for months now, and that yes, the very fact that you rushed in here to screech tells me it bothers you greatly.

However, you might want to brush up your expertise in British family law and see what the difference is between a decree nisi and a decree absolute. Even if the law changed in the meanwhile (2020 and enforced in 2022), the procedure I am about to describe and comment has not, assuming it started as stated, in 2020. Sidenote: the 2022 law does not change much to its essence, either. It just simplifies the grounds for divorce and leaves some unwanted uncertainty on the ways financial separation is dealt with by the applicants (formerly called 'petitioners').

By the way, you should stop imagining that the entire world has the same rules and regulations on things: divorce is something that is dealt with very differently in the US, as compared to the UK, for example. In British legal practice, there is, in reality, no time limit for the decree nisi to remain on the court file, simply because, as the paper above strives to explain, the legislator is fully aware of the fact that it is not always quick, nor easy to deal with the consequences of a separation, such as a change of personal status or financial situation. go ahead and do the following:
- put a secondary hdd in your PC, this is the hardest and most dangerous part as you will directly interact with your motherboard. If you can, ask a friend for help through video call or check a tutorial, it's not as hard as it may seem
- mount it and give it a memorable drive letter, for example T: or E: or A: (you can do this pretty easily with disk management)
- copy your music/pictures/documents/... folders to it and verify that the copying is complete and successful
- write down the path of, and then delete the original folders
- now, open CMD as administrator and execute the following command:
mklink /D C:/Users/<username>/Documents A:/Documents
- repeat for each subfolder that you copied. Of course, replace the A:/ path with your actual new location, and
- make sure to consider onedrive folders first, because windows doesn't even ask any more to use that instead of the default location i named here
Congratulations!
Your documents are now safe on a secondary drive, windows has the space it needs to be the evolving mutant that it is, and no software can tell any difference (unless the other drive dies)
I'm happy to help anyone through the process, just ask
an extenal USB drive would work just as well and would simplify step 1, but then you can potentially break things when you unplug it when the PC is running.

A new cafe has opened just on the edge of Crime Alley.
It’s in one of the old buildings that was a front for one of the older gangs that have long since been destroyed. It’s known to serve anyone as long as you don’t do these five things.
1: Insult the Employees or the Owners guests.
2: Try to hurt or have hurt anyone in the cafe.
3: Mess with the alley delivery kids.
4:Do not lie to the alley kids about payment they always tell Owner.
5: Make promises you will not keep.
If you do anything on this list your going to get cursed into silence or something worse if it’s the Owner but if it’s the Employee you’ll just get back talked to hell and back or in worse case stabbed. But no one in the alley really cares as the food and drinks are so good and cheap for Gotham so even the alley kids who don’t work there can get food and the Alley doesn’t rat out safe spaces.
But it has caught the attention of the Bats for the mysterious nature of the Owner and his Employe so three members of the family will go undercover and investigate the cafe
Damien and Tim will go undercover as Dion and Ivan who are two Alley kids that are looking for a way to make money the legal way after being backstabbed by their old boss. And Jason will be going as Otto who is an ex-con who is also looking for work after getting caught by the bats a few years back.
Let the investigation proceed.

•Background•
Danny was just going about his [ half ] life.
Danny came out to his parents about being a ghost and him being phantom with jazz there and Sam, Tucker listening in with a go-bag if they need to skip town fast but that wasn’t needed as his parents immediately went into apologizing for what they said and how scared he must have been and omg we shot our son!!!
So that when very well after that his parents views on ghost changed for the better and thankfully they cut all ties with the G.I.W even if there still somewhat a problem but their manageable so as long as they all keep them at bay it should be fine.
And Jazz “accidentally” •~{ I heacannon that Jazz hates Vlad with a passion for how weird he is about Danny }~• and everything he’s done and how he acted towards Danny…let’s just say the Fentons were in need of new Fenton-bats as all of there’s were bent out of shape.
Anyway with the less stress from having your parents shooting you every other night his grades have been get better admittedly slowly but there getting better! And everything in Danny’s life has finally chilled out and he can just relax.
Until Vlad decided to be a problem.
Vlad after healing from the beating the Fentons gave him, his obsession started to change from marrying Maddie to taking Danny as his [Not in a romantic way like the Batfam will think, IF I SEE THEM BEING SHIP HERE YOU WILL BE BLOCKED THAT IS A CHILD AND A GROWN MAN] so he had to get Danny and keep him but with the Fentons protection he couldn’t get Danny that way so he kidnapped Dani who has come back to Amity park to visit Danny Mama and got grab by Vlad.
Vlad started to destabilize Dani to create a new clone as a place holder until he can grab the real Danny, But he was unable to destabilize Dani all the way as Danny blasted through the wall and grab Dani and booked it back to his house. [This is very simplified, I’m just shit at writing this type of shit]
So 16 year old Danny and a de-aged 2 Dani ( Who has been renamed Arsa ) feeling very uncomfortable and unsafe with Vlad being around but as Danny’s still in high school and under Fentons protection and not to mention Danny would finish the job his parents and the portal couldn’t.
So he stays until he finishes high school well it was a bit more difficult to keep his grades up with his new daughter but he managers and when he graduates he gives his family+Sam and Tucker a way to connect them and promise to visit every once and a while and books it to the ghost zone and into his liar where Vlad can’t get in as Danny wouldn’t let him.
And Danny + Arsa stay there for 11 years [on the earth side of it ✨Time difference✨] well visiting everyone when Vlad was in the ghost zone doing what ever shady shit he does or trying to get into Danny lair and when Danny feels like Arsa and protect herself from whatever may try to hurt her they move back and decide to move to Gotham as amity park is far to close to Vlad then Danny likes to be.
And they open the cafe just for some extra play money and for fun and that’s how we got here.

I like thinking about how The Murderbot Diaries could be adapted. I enjoy the conceit that much or all of the footage/animation is technically in first-person - but, true to character, Murderbot frequently prefers to hijack drones and other environmental cameras as an emotional distancing mechanism, allowing changes in POV to communicate its emotions without forcing Murderbot to explicitly comment on them. :D Visual media obviously want less narration than literature (sometimes to its detriment), but fortunately Murderbot has the excuse of lacking a Watson or anyone else it's willing to talk to, especially for half the first book, so there's plenty of justification for a minimal level of snarky cyber-noir commentary. The tonal contrast between its internal monologue and everything it actually says is important!
Treating the "camera" as an explicit extension of Murderbot's perspective also slightly simplifies the problem that a lot of the action and dialogue happens in a way that's tricky to convey passively in only two senses. For one, people talk to each other regularly not just vocally, but over the feed. How can that distinction be made clear to the audience without constantly having to say so? Audio is the most obvious choice; maybe the dialogue has processing effects that give it a subtle electronic tint. Earlier scenes could establish the convention by showing augmented humans continuing to talk by closing their mouths and using subvocal jaw movements, accompanied by the processing change, setting up that association to use without the visual cue later. It'd be important that the effect be distinctive without making the dialogue incomprehensible, since music and sound effects would also still be part of the mix. But "the feed" isn't just one feed, either - not everyone uses the same public channel, and sometimes that's plot-relevant. I remember in Rogue Protocol there was a moment where Murderbot has a brief conversation with someone - I think it was Abene? - which starts vocally, then moves to the feed, then to a private channel. The same people are speaking, or else you could use that to imply the change, but it's important to the audience that other people in the group who aren't currently speaking can only hear some of it. How do you communicate that efficiently? "Sounds digital" is one thing, "sounds digital but in two or more distinct and consistent ways" is another level and outside my limited AV knowledge. (If Murderbot is narrating when other people are around we might also need tone for "asides no one heard but the audience", but that isn't anything new at least.)
That's relatively trivial compared to the broader problem that Murderbot, specifically, is constantly talking to and hacking computer systems. That's at least half of its job and plot participation, but it's also a core part of its characterisation as an insubordinate non-human that makes it a compelling protagonist, so "just write it out of the script" would clearly betray the spirit of an adaptation. I don't know if you've thought about how much effort directors went to until someone (possibly on Sherlock) figured out how to just present text messages on-screen in a dynamic and legible way? This is worse. Viewers don't necessarily need as much information as readers get, but I just finished Exit Strategy and was paying attention to what I was actually imagining visually while Murderbot:
Remotely contacts a gunship using false authentication so it won't notify its human crew
Casually disables security devices and erases itself from recordings
Distinguishes systems by which organisation they belong to, how much access it has to them, and whether they have an active human operator
Sorts personal memories to edit into a highlights reel
Briefly redirects a secure call at a critical moment
Fakes a glitch in decorative holography
Exploits the perimeters of security systems that don't directly communicate with each other to evade pursuit
Monitors transit traffic to deduce enemy movement and change plans accordingly
Hijacks all the drones in a large room and blocks attempts to regain control
Reclassifies enemy combatants mid-engagement
Secures a pilot bot in the middle of being destroyed by killware
Creates bait to lure said killware into a subsystem that can be physically disconnected
Good thing I was imagining a broadly POV camera framing anyway, because none of this is happening physically, and Murderbot isn't experiencing it through human-analogous senses. The challenge is to communicate all of that without impeding the story it's meant to support, without the advantage of being able to control pacing through text. The usual trope for creating visual interest in the visually-unexciting activity of "using a computer" is to portray it as happening physically anyway in a metaphorical cyberspace, but I don't think that actually works in this case, because remember: a lot of this happens during climactic action scenes, and blocking fight choreography can be disorienting enough as it is without also constantly flickering into virtual reality just long enough to flip an imaginary switch. It makes more sense to me to represent it as more of an augmented reality overlay, which... the problem there isn't really that that sounds like creating an entire imaginary UI, which isn't different in principle from set design making sure all the buttons are labelled consistently on the spaceship console, the problem is that usually the audience isn't watching through the console. You'd need to treat the HUD elements as normal and use them at least often enough that when they become important the audience will be ready to follow along without exposition, but cluttering the screen can be distracting enough when you're playing an game and is probably even worse in a non-interactive medium.

The further I get from Voltron, the more I feel like the Holt and Shirogane family should’ve been 1 family.
Matt and Pidge are Sam’s biological kids, and Keith is Shiro’s adopted son.
Sam and Shiro would be the same age, having grown up together in the Garrison, and fell in love.
The reason Sam, Matt, and Shiro all go to space together is 1. Their love/knowledge of space and 2. The mission was supposed to be extremely routine (which is different from canon, but I think would make more sense with how technologically advanced the Garrison is).
Keith still got kicked out of the academy, Pidge still had to sneak in, but the two aren’t complete strangers. They’re working in tandem to figure out what happened to their dads and brother.
And Colleen Holt could be Shiro’s best friend. She doesn’t think it’s a great idea for Shiro to go with his arm in the condition it is, and that causes a minor argument. She still becomes the caretaker of Keith and Pidge until Sam and Shiro return.
It just simplifies the group dynamics a bit. It always felt like Shiro and Pidge’s stories were so separate for no reason. He wasn’t even there when she went to find Matt.
And there’s no need for Adam and Curtis. Which weren’t really real characters, if I’m being honest.

i'm the same anon who asked abt the tattoo, so. you can be as controversial as you want, but could i ask why taivan is not as prominent/noticeable in comparison to shaunahat, or fanon ships? like, your opinion. because, genuinely, as much as i see their scenes and ppl cheering for them, idk, it's not as HARD and LOUD if that makes sense. thank you in advance!
I dunno about controversial--I'm never actively trying to be a shit-starter, I just. My honest take is twofold. One, people are definitely being steered by racism. I mean, I see that just in the way Jasmin is constantly under fire no matter what she does or says. This is a biracial Black queer person (noticed recently she's operating with she/they pronouns, playing in the gender sandbox, and good for them) who is clearly always working so hard to better their world and be a voice for the various minority groups she inhabits, and I feel like I'm just constantly seeing people be awful to and about them. Like, constantly finding excuses to set her aside, or send her the worst messages in the world, and I'm just like. Let this person live, for the love of Christ. The inability to not take unearned ownership of someone else's journey is...insane to me, but I feel like I see it constantly with her. So to have Taissa be this incredibly complex Black woman who is not always likeable, not soft and sweet and constantly striving for other people's approval--yeah, I'm not surprised the fandom ignores her. Furious! Always furious about it! But not surprised.
Van, too, gets set aside an awful lot, and that's obviously not about racism (although the interracial couple aspect is there). I think people are...so volatile about Van in ways that will never make sense to me. Half the time people are calling her a villain, the other half they're calling her boring, and in both cases, those people are just not watching the same show I am. Liv's performance is so nuanced and so carefully escalated, and Lauren is following suit; there is so much going on with this character, with Taissa's character, with their growth together and apart, and...yeah, I dunno, man. I think it's a lot of what Tai says onscreen in season one. They're not what people expect, or what people want them to be, so they get written off as "boring" or less appealing than the noncanon ships. Some of it is the racism, some is the complicated nature of gender and Van's butch qualities, and none of it makes sense to me because those aspects are so much of what I love about Taivan as a ship. Like. They are so real, so multifaceted, so good and so toxic for one another at the same time, and they are played by 3/4ths (at least, I don't know Ambrose's life) openly, proudly queer actors. DUDE. For me, that's the fucking dream.
THAT SAID. My other thought is a lot simpler. And that's just: what happens in canon belongs to the writers, and we get to share it. What happens in fanon belongs solely to fandom. The fanon interpretations of characters can be worlds away from the actuality of those characters onscreen, and I think there's a freedom there that a lot of people really love. Subtext has been the bread and butter of queer audiences for so long that I think a lot of viewers just naturally feel more comfortable in that space, reading between lines and making up the necessary filler as they go. It doesn't hurt that a lot of these characters are white and/or conventionally attractive, but I think it's more to do with...not needing to put the canon of it all at the forefront. Like I love Jackie/Shauna, I love Lottie/Nat, I live for Shauna/Lottie--but they're all subtextual relationships, to various degrees, and so I can just sort of...do whatever with them in stories, so long as I'm feeling the characters out. I personally have a preference for writing fic as close as I can to existing character profile/voice, but that's not for everyone, and I've noticed a lot of the fanon-born ships are...not simpler, necessarily, but simplified. Which, in turn, makes them more palatable. I dunno. I get it! I do. But I will never understand throwing aside the canon queer ship in favor of subtext. That just...ain't my bag.
And then I guess there's a third, less prominent idea of like. Who's the main character of the show? If you had to boil it all down, it's Shauna. She's the POV character, if we have one, from the start. So not only do you have the freedom of fan interpretation, but she's front and center a lot of the time just by the nature of the narrative. And then Natalie is probably the next "main" character, so...that speaks for a lot of the louder ships, I suppose. I'd really love to see more attention on Taissa for the same reason, since she's been at the front from the beginning, but...see above, i guess.

It's 6:23 PM on Valentine's day. I got no date, a bottle of Pepsi Max Lime Flavour and a fictional child just asked a question about MtG layers. Let's rock.
For explanation, let's assume that all players have zero non-land permanents in play and that no player will play any cards until this sequence has played out. There's three cards in this question so let's go through them one at a time.

Let's start with Replenish. It's a Sorcery that returns all Enchantments in the kids graveyard into play. This card is straight forward but will add a fun complication later on.
Here's our first trouble maker. Humility is an Enchantment, meaning it will be moved from the graveyard into play by Replenish, that sets the base power and toughness of all creatures in play to 1 and removes all abilities. It can be challenge to keep track of but we're not done yet.

Now we're cooking with gas. Opalescence is another Enchantment that will be brought into play by Replenish. It turns all other non-Aura Enchantment cards into Creatures with power and toughness equal to their mana value. The affected cards still count as Enchantments despite also being Creatures and keep all their effects.
Eagle eyed readers may have spotted the paradox that was just created. Because Humility is an Enchantment, Opalescence makes it a Creature with 4 power and toughness. But Humility ability states that all Creatures' power and toughness is 1 and (here comes the big problem) that Creatures lose any abilities they have. So Humility removes it's own ability, turning it back into a 4/4 with an ability that once again says it's supposed to be a 1/1 with no abilities. And the cycle starts over.
This leads to some very interesting questions. Is Humility a 4/4 or a 1/1? Does it still have it's ability? Can the game even continue at this point? Luckily, the answer to the last question is yes. As for the previous ones, we need to open up the hood of MtG and take a look at a thing called "layers".
Before we go any further, I have to give a massive shout out to MTG Tutorials . I'm not going to go into the finer details about the Layer System but if you want to read more about it, their tutorial is a great place to start.
The simplified explanation is that Magic handles continuous effects from cards like Humility and Opalescence with a series of steps (or Layers) that decides in what order the effects happen in. There's 7 layers in total and layer 7 is split into 5 sub layers. Effects that fit Layer 1 goes first, then those that apply to Layer 2 and so on. The layers that are relevant to this scenario are Layer 4 (Type changing effects), Layer 6 (Ability-granting or removing effects) and Layer 7b (Effects that set power and toughness to a specific value).
So let's go through the layers and see how things get any clearer. The first change occurs on Layer 4 where Opalescence adds the Creature card type to Humility. Humility then removes its own ability in Layer 6. We'll stop here to bring up a very important point about layers and effects being removed.
According to rule 613.6, effects that are applied in one layer, will continue to be applied in all relevant layers, even if they have been removed during its journey through the layers. This means that even though Humilty's ability was removed in Layer 6 it will still be involved in determining its own power and toughness in Layer 7b.
Speaking of, let's head into that layer now. Here we got two effects that want to affect the same card so what do we do here? This depends on which card entered play first. The card that has been in play the longest is the first to activate its effect and then it goes forward until you reach the card that was played last.
This means that if Humility entered play before Opalescence, it is first turned into a 1/1 by its own effect and is then turned into a 4/4 by Opalescence. If the order in which the cards entered is switched, then the order of their effects are also switched. Humility is first turned into a 4/4 by Opalescence and then into a 1/1 by itself.
But do you remember that I wrote that Replenish was going to add a fun complication? We have reached that competition now :)
Replenish brought in Humility and Opalescence at the same time meaning that they have the same spot in the que. How do we solve this new conundrum? Luckily there's a handy rule for such an occasion..
Rule 613.7k states if two or more cards share a time slot, the active player (in this case, the player that casted Replenish) is allowed to choose in what order the effects are activated.

When you cast Replenish to bring back Humility and Opalescence from the graveyard, they enter the board at the same time and the layer system comes into play.
First, at Layer 4, Humility becomes a Creature. It then loses all abilities at Layer 6. At Layer 7b the player that cast Replenish chooses in what order Humility and Opalescence effects goes into effect. If they start with Opalescence, Humility becomes a 1/1 Enchantment Creature without abilities. If they start with Humility, it becomes a 4/4 Enchantment Creature without abilites.

Simplifying things was often the only way to get through to Story. Otherwise, he was quick to move on, confused and easily distracted. A scary story, however, was an easy enough string to follow. Story enjoyed talking about the things he knew, even if they weren't always things anyone needed to know. So to actually be asked for a tale from his own life, that got Story excited.
"Sure, I can tell you what I remember! I was pretty young when we separated ourselves from them, though." He shrugged, then pursing his lips and trying to think back to what he knew about the husband and wife. "I don't think her husband knew she was cursed when he married her. He found out afterwards, when she needed to find another sacrifice. But it was a weird porcelain peacock, it wasn't very big or anything. I remember seeing it once in her things. Wherever they were staying, she put it next to her bed. We thought she just wanted to make her space a little more home-like, because we were traveling so much." Story explained. "When I saw it, it had a really beautifully detailed tail. That was probably the biggest part of it, the tail, but that sort of makes sense for a peacock." He hesitated, and then laughed, shrugging again. "It doesn't sound very scary, does it?"
Silas smiled, teeth only moderately gritted, "Yes, a scary story." He felt his grandiose request was unnecesarily simplified, even if the simple request was actually unnecessarily elaborate. The thought left his mind quickly as Story continued, the details of the memory quickly taking his interest. "That sounds like a very thrilling tale. If you feel comfortable, I would love to hear every single detail that it has to offer." He had a gentle smile, but inside he was desperate to hear the details, he wanted to know every Story had to offer.
